Welcome to TLAC
"Take Pride" 2008 Information & Registration Form
Do you love the Lake? Really love it? Then you will want to join the hundreds of other volunteers who will participate in the 21st annual “Take Pride on Smith Mountain Lake” Clean-up Day on Saturday, May 3.
Now in its third decade, Clean-up Day is a time when people who love to boat, swim, and just look at the Lake get together to make sure it stays a safe, beautiful place to be. Volunteers go out on the water and shore to remove debris. Last year, over 50 tons were collected by more than 850 people.
Some neighborhoods begin Clean-up Day with a community breakfast or take time out at noon for a potluck cookout. Sharing food always adds to the fun.
You can begin picking up around your own shoreline and then branch out into the coves and inlets upriver where debris tends to collect. Anyone with a big enough dock can use it as a local neighborhood drop-off for collection bags. Then all the debris can be brought at once to one of the following sites around the Lake:
Bay Roc Marina (R-87) Moorman’s Marina (R-77) Westlake Waterfront Inn (R-36) Bridgewater Grande (Hales Ford Bridge) Virginia Dare Marina (Walton’s Creek) Mitchell’s Point Marina (C-3) Crazy Horse Marina (B-11) 4-H Center (B-40) Admiral’s Landing (B-48) Barge located on the water around Beaverdam
Each registered volunteer will receive a commemorative T-shirt and canvas work gloves (while supplies last), special trash bags, and a safety/information sheet.
Plan to come out with your neighbors on May 3 to take part in this community effort. You’ll be glad you did.
